This trip is by RIB crossing Andsfjorden and out on the ocean outside the Andenes. Here the continental shelf is close to the coast, the area north-west of the Andes is particularly rich in nutrients and a hunting area for sperm whales. We search along the continental shelf to see where the whales stay that day, if one spotted, chances are there are more, as they hunt in packs.
Other wildlife such as sea eagles, seals, otters and a number of seabirds are often seen near Senja. The nature is fantastic, the light can be incredible, we are sure that you will enjoy the trip no matter what. We would like to point out that it pays to do a toilet visit before the trip, as there are no opportunities for toilet visits during the 4 hours the trip takes. The trip is weather dependent, should the weather be too bad to cross the Andsfjord but still nice enough to stay close to Senja, we will try to look for smaller whales close to the coast instead of canceling the trip.
Duration is 3 – 4 hours depending on the conditions.
