Why visit Senja – unique experiences/identity of Senja Island:
- Northern Lights: Senja offers a spectacular view of the Northern Lights, which can be seen dancing in the sky on clear winter nights, just outside your doorstep. This natural phenomenon is a must-see and creates a magical atmosphere.
- Peaceful and Authentic Experience: Unlike more crowded tourist destinations, Senja offers a peaceful and authentic experience. You can enjoy the tranquility of the island and immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions
- Whale & Arctic Wildlife Safari: We must be honest, joining a whale safari at Senja does not give you the same chances of actually spotting a whale as if you join a whale safari from Tromsø or Skjevøy area. However enjoy the excitement of scouting for whales along the coastline of Senja. Other wildlife as sea eagles, seals, otters, and a variety of seabirds are easier to find. The scenery is breath taking, the light can be incredible, nevertheless we are sure you will enjoy the ride, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot Northern Lights on the very same visit to Senja.
- Snowshoeing and Skiing: Senja provides excellent opportunities for snowshoeing and skiing. Whether a beginner or an experienced adventurer, you’ll find trails and slopes that suit your level. Again, this is a low-environmental-impact activity.
- Scenic Beauty: The island is known for its dramatic coastlines, jagged mountain peaks, and serene fishing villages. The winter landscape is particularly enchanting, with snow-covered mountains and frozen fjords.
